Alexander Fernandez De La Torre

Alexander holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Havana (Cuba) and earned his Ph.D. in Science from the Federal University of Sao Carlos (UFSCar, Brazil) in 2015. His doctoral research focused on developing organocatalysts using isocyanide-based multicomponent reactions for asymmetric synthesis, alongside discovering novel methods to access chiral heterocyclic compounds. After a CNPq postdoctoral fellowship (2015–2016) at UFSCar, he joined the University of Concepción (Chile) in 2017, where he achieved tenure as an Assistant Professor. In 2024, he transitioned to the Hernandez group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to explore new synthetic methodologies for PSMA-targeted anti-cancer therapy. When not in the lab, Alexander enjoys spending time with his family at parks and beaches.
